I recently checked out Unbounce, the landing page generator site. During sign-up I got double-minded, and figured I could probably just code a landing page myself.
Since I dropped out of the conversion, I got this email after 30 mins from Unbounce offering me a free account (instead of the usual credit card trial). Note the catchy subject line, and the free benefits in the email.
Today I clicked on this and made an account. Free signup + a custom shorter signup form? Awesome. They converted me using this.
So many people drop out of conversion funnels in all web products that its not even funny. Simple things like this – a follow-up email offering an extra benefit – can get a lot of the dropouts to consider finishing their signup.
